Menemsha is a fishing village within the town of Chilmark on Martha’s Vineyard. It serves as the inlet and outlet between Menemsha Pond and Vineyard Sound and is used by local sport and commercial fishermen, has a public beach, and a Coast Guard station. It was featured in Steven Spielberg's 1975 film Jaws. This view is based on a photo I took several years ago from the fishing pier near Larsen’s fish market, which is the most awesome fish market in the world, with fish literally coming in the back door from the boats at the dock. Menemsha is a magical place, and I never tire of painting it.
