I love mucking around with paint. OK, I stole that line from Kenneth Grahame’s ‘The Wind in the Willows’ where he writes about messing around in boats, but I love that book so I’ll fee free to borrow. Mucking around with paint can bring you to pleasant and interesting places if you let yourself “let go” a bit and follow the direction the canvas seems to be going. That’s doesn’t mean i don’t give it direction myself; it ends up being something of a collaboration between me, the paint, and the scene on the canvas. And then I go in and tidy up and add whatever needs adding to finish. That’s how this painting got here, so as odd as that process (or lack of process) might sound, I’ll continue to go with it.
